Behind The Name: Let's Take A Shellfie!

Clients and customers ask us how and who names our polish colors almost daily. The truth is, it's a collaborative effort! I have personally named a handful of colors, friends and family, our team, followers on instagram, and sometimes we just see a sfunny quote and it inspires a color. Every bottle of polish has a story behind its name...we decided it's time to share!

First up: Lets Take A Shellfie!

When my son Connor was just five years old, he became my little assistant at Cape Cod Nail Co. He loved helping me organize bottles of polish and loved having his own nails painted.

One afternoon, as we were organizing the polishes and chatting away, Connor held up a bottle and said, "Let’s take a selfie!" Except, in his adorable way, it came out as "Let’s take a shellfie!" I paused for a moment, started to laugh, then exclaimed "Connor! You just named a nail polish!" It was such a perfect color name—completely unintentional but absolutely on brand!

The name stuck, and "Let’s Take A Shellfie" became one of most loved polish colors. It’s not just a fun name; it’s a memory I cherish and how much my boys have been part of this journey with me. Every time I paint Let's Take A Shellfie, I think of him, his big smile, and that funny moment.

And that's the story behind the name: "Let's Take A Shellfie!" ☺️
